Fairfield Glade in Tennessee
We have just returned from our trip to North Carolina and Tennessee. We were gone about 10-11 days. What a great break it was from reality. I thought of it as a little peek into what retirement will look and feel like. We were able to explore a couple of possible retirement places. First up is Fiarlfield Glade (FFG) which is near Crosville, Tennessee.
Fairfield Glade
One of the biggest appeals of FFG is that it has four seasons and the temperatures are reasonable all year round. I would love to live in a place that allowed me to garden in the spring, summer and fall. It’s pretty scorching in Texas so we don’t have much growing in July/August.
In addition to the great weather, they have 5 golf courses, 11 lakes and more than 10 miles of hiking and biking trails. There is the little town of Crossville that is close by. But not too far away are Nashville and Knoxville which are both full of history, great restaurants and places to explore.
We decided to stop in Knoxville which was only about an hour and fifteen minutes away. We enjoyed the charm of the downtown area. There was a little market going on and this area is well used by tourists and locals. Knoxville seemed to be very dog-friendly which is a plus in my book.

Up next will be a couple of spots in North Carolina.
