Reflections…

This was a hard week. We lost my husband’s grandmother at age 91, almost 92 after a short battle with cancer. She was really more like a mom and mother in law to us as my husband lost his parents over 30 years ago.

Jimmie Dean Qualls touched her own corner of the world in her own special way. I never heard or saw her judge others, she accepted everyone and loved unconditionally. She stayed active. She worked as a cosmetologist for many years. Eventually she retired but she felt she still had something to offer and wanted to stay busy so she worked as in the local elementary school cafeteria cooking and serving food. She was involved in her church, senior citizen groups, volunteered at the local food panty and she drove the “old ladies” to their doctor appointments.

I want to dedicate this post to her and the dream I have for myself in retirement. I hope to stay active, do the things that bring joy to others and wake up each day with a smile on my face. Each day is a new opportunity and I hope I will carry some of her inspiration with me always.

Rest in peace, Grandma Jimmie, you will be missed!
